Workshop
We have two well equipped service workshops here at Planet BIKE in which we are able to carry out repairs quickly and professionally. Because we have two workshops and plenty of storage space we have a quick turnover, doing services on the day they are booked in, meaning you can continue with your riding as quickly as possible. We have two trained mechanics that are always on hand to get your bike back to a professional working order no matter what the problem. Apart from aesthetically how the bike looks we strive ourselves in bringing the bike back to "as new" order when carrying out any service.
We have lots of storage facilities available therefore you can leave your bike with us whenever you're free and pick it up when the service is done, this way we are always able to work around you and you'll never need to wait too long either.
We are able to repair anything regarding a bicycle so no matter what your bicycles issue we can fix it and please drop it in or alternatively then please give us a call for a free quotation.
General Service
This service covers everything on the bike, no matter what size the bike is or what condition the bike is in. This service will, generally speaking bring the bike back to "as new" condition, apart from aesthetically how it looks, it will ride and feel like a new bike. Parts are extra and will be quoted on inspection before the service.
Cost: £45 + potential parts
Strip Down & Clean (TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE)
This service covers everything that is done on the General service but includes a full strip down, clean and polish on all parts. Parts are extra and will be quoted on inspection before the service.
Cost: £75 + any potential parts
Wheel Strip and Build
The wheel build will cover the cost of labour for building up any wheel using a professional Park Tool wheel jig and does not include cost of parts.
Cost: Wheel Strip £15 & Wheel Build £35
£35 build + parts (spokes / nipples etc)
Wheel True
A re-alignment of a wheel using a professional Park Tool wheel truing jig, to bring it back to as close to its original standard. Price is per wheel and does not include the cost of replacement spokes.
Cost: £10 per wheel + potential parts
Build of a new bike purchased elsewhere e.g. online
Bring the boxed bike to us and we will assemble it correctly, tuning all the brakes and gears and making sure it is safe to ride. We don't include a warranty with any bike builds where the bike has been purchased elsewhere as this is the responsibility of where you purchased the bike from and Planet BIKE cannot be held responsible. We WILL offer a FREE 6 week service with any build to retune the bike.
Cost: £50 + parts where applicable!
Puncture Repair
We will remove the wheel, tyre and tube from the bike, check the tyre and wheel for any thorns or debris that may have caused the puncture, insert a brand new inner tube and inflate to the correct pressure - job done!
Cost: £3.50 + price of the inner tube
Fitting a new Headset
We will remove your old headset and fit a new one, fully greased and professionally fitted so you have steering you can rely on.
Cost: £15 + cost of headset where applicable
Swapping a Cassette
We will remove the wheel from the bike, take the old cassette off and put on the brand new one usually while you wait.
Cost: £5 + cost of new cassette (where applicable).
Gear re-indexing
We will tune both your front and rear gears, ensuring that the gear change is swift and smooth without any annoying "clicking" noises.
Cost: £5 + any parts that may be required.
Brake re-alignment
We will ensure that your brakes are working correctly and as they should, making sure you feel safe on the bike and can rely on your brakes to stop you, both in the dry and the wet.
Cost: £5 + any parts that may be required.
Disc Brake service
We will ensure that your hydraulic disc brakes are working correctly and efficiently and make sure that you have brakes you can rely on.
Cost: £15 per brake + fluid (if required) + pads (if required).
If cable operated then £2.50 per brake + any parts that are required
Fitting a new Bottom Bracket
We will remove your old bottom bracket from the bike, clean the area, then regrease the area and fit a new bottom bracket to the specification required.
Cost: £10 if the Bottom Bracket was purchased from us or £15 from elsewhere.
Fitting Bar Tape
We will remove your old bar tape from your bike and replace it professionally with fresh new bar tape.
Cost: £5 + the cost of the bar tape.
Fitting a new Chain
We will remove the old chain from your bike and replace it with a new chain to the correct length.
Cost: £5 + the cost of any parts that are required.
E-bike Firmware Update for Bosch / Yamaha / Shimano system
A handy software/firmware update to the Bosch / Yamaha / Shimano. This will need booking in and your ebike left here in the workshop for a couple of hours.
Cost: £20
